Poverty
The moral and social effects of poverty are felt within the very souls of communities
throughout the world. It is an ongoing disaster that threatens the health and over-all well-
being of whole nations around the globe. World Needy believes that educating the poor
and equipping them with practical tools for making a living is a key way to help end the
epidemic of poverty.
Poverty creates a cycle of crime, imprisonment and joblessness wherein individuals who
lack the skills or opportunity to hold proper employment commit criminal acts on account
of necessity leading to their incarceration and subsequent rendering as a societal
criminal with almost no hope of respectable employment in countries like the United
States. Desire for basic needs like food and shelter, in addition to the desire for self-
realization and acceptance leads many to become ensnared in a pattern of self-
destruction; turning to violence, drugs, and abusive behaviors that deplete the lives of
those around them. World Needy seeks to focus on individuals at the center of these
community defeating cycles, providing a way out through education, proper nutrition, and
honest trade development all within a spiritual focus.
As mentioned before, lack of education is a key factor in the poverty cycle, thus it is
crucial to provide communities with an understanding of how to increase literacy, rather
than simply increasing the amount of government aid within the locality. A focus on trade
development and spirituality promotes independence and self-respect which will in turn
help reduce the drive and time opportunity for individuals most prone to committing
criminal acts. World Needy is seeking to partner with communities all around the world to
do the work of Our Savior Jesus Christ, breaking the chains that hold people in continual
unease, degeneracy, and despondence.
Haiti’s Children
•
Studies have shown that approximately one-fourth of Haitian children die even
before they reach the age of five.
•
Thousands more are abused and left alone on the streets.
•
Few social assistance programs exist. The lack of employment opportunities
remains one of the most critical problems facing the economy, along with soil
erosion and political instability.
