For many young people in cities like Chicago and Tijuana, Mexico Gang affiliation provides a sense of identity. The widespread nature of this issue almost suggests that an epidemiologist needs be involved. The need for protection and a sense of belonging, as well as the desire for power are sought after by many who choose to become gang participants. Violence Prevention Strategies

World Needy seeks to develop strategies to counteract the negative societal risks and factors that promote violence. Below are some ways we seek to do this. Create High opportunities for positive social involvement such as youth recreational programs, and youth anti-violence role modeling opportunities. Encourage and demonstrate respect for human life and a sense of responsibility for one another. Offer anger management tools and counseling programs, as well as mediation and conflict resolution assistance as non-violent options of solving conflicts. Provide alcohol and drug interventions for young people and families.
