Gang Violence
For many young people in cities like Chicago and Tijuana, Mexico Gang
affiliation provides a sense of identity. The widespread nature of this issue
almost suggests that an epidemiologist needs be involved. The need for
protection and a sense of belonging, as well as the desire for power are
sought after by many who choose to become gang participants. The rapid
growth of gangs and the societal issues that fuel it ought to become a
concern for all who value peace.
Prevention must start at a young age, before young people are drawn by
necessity to the streets. World Needy provides education to children
providing tools for healthy and productive development within society, thus
hitting the problem of gang violence at one of its primary roots. With the
support of experts who specialize in gangs as well as drug abuse and gun
violence, we seek to gather valuable insight on how to approach and meet
the needs of the communities that suffer most from the evil of gangs.
